History of the Business
Duffield Hauling began its operations in Roanoke, Virginia in 1978. Duffield Hauling, a commercial hauling company, began with one dump truck, one administrative employee and one driver.
By 1989, the company owned four dump trucks, and was awarded a multi-year contract on the Springfield By-Pass. At this time, the company moved its operations to Northern Virginia. Duffield continued to pursue and perform trucking contracts in the Northern Virginia area, which included various projects along with the expansion of lanes on interstate 95 from Springfield to Dale City.
From 1993 to 1995, the company provided the transportation requirements at the Springfield-Franconia Metro Station. On this contract, Duffield transported more than one million cubic yards of soil.
Duffield has since grown into an interstate hauling company, with a fleet of more than 40 trucks and 50 full time permanent employees. The company expanded its operations to include the transportation of biosolids. Duffield has since worked on more than twelve projects for federal, state and municipal authorities involving loading and transportation of more than 1 million tons of sludge. The company operations include operating and managing an on site biosolids processing batch plant located at Fort George G. Meade Wastewater Treatment Plant, transporting biosolids from the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Washington, D.C., as well as providing the transportation needs to various other Wastewater Treatment facilities. Duffield operations also include the transportation of ash from local power plants and dump truck rentals to local contractors performing highway and road construction for various government, state and local agencies.
